...shiatsu...
Shiatsu, also referred to as acupressure, is a massage technique performed with the fingers, palms, thumbs and elbows that is sometimes confused with acupuncture. Shiatsu massage is NOT acupuncture therapy. No needles are involved. Shiatsu and acupuncture are both based upon the Chinese energetic pathway or meridian system in the body. The therapist applies pressure with his thumbs, finger, elbows and palms to very specific acupoints on the client's body that have been determined during an assessment period prior to the massage session. Massage techniques like tapping, squeezing, friction, and compression are applied along the meridians to unblock stagnant energy points and reintroduce the optimal flow of Chi or life force along the meridian systems of the body.

“I have been studying Shiatsu in one form or another for the past Eleven Years. I have had the good fortune to learn under Truly Phenomenal Teachers some of whom I believe to be the best instructors on the East Coast. I feel even more blessed to be able to call them my friends as well.”
“Sensei David LoPriore, L.Ac of A.S.O.M.N.E. Peter Yates, L.Ac. Thank you for starting me on this wonderfully complex path, and more importantly, helping me up and brushing me off when I fall on my face. There has NEVER been a dull moment since that first step.”
“I have assisted many, many Shiatsu Terms at CCMT in Groton under Will Parks, LMT, ST and learn something new every time I talk with him. Thanks Will, for everything, I consider you a true mentor and a friend as well. If you ever need a favor, you know who to call.”
“I believe my Shiatsu is a blend of all the different teachers I have had and contains a little bit of each of them. I practice Shiatsu because I truly enjoy helping the people my treatment touches. All I want out of all this is to leave the world a little better than when I got here. I plan on doing that one massage at a time.”
